About Us

Compass Veterinary Neurology & Imaging is a full-service neurology, neurosurgery, and advanced imaging practice located in the Chesapeake Veterinary Referral Center (CVRC) in Annapolis, Maryland. Our practice has been providing care to patients in the mid-Atlantic and greater Washington D.C. area since 2009. In 2022, we came under new ownership and were renamed Compass Veterinary Neurology & Imaging (CVNI).

CVNI is the trusted team for all neurology and imaging needs both internally from other specialty practices within CVRC, and outside referrals such as your primary care veterinarian. We are unique in that a board-certified neurologist is on-site every weekday as well as available for emergency consults every weekend and holiday. Emergency and after-hour consultations are performed through our on-site 24-hour ER, Anne Arundel Veterinary Emergency Clinic (AAVEC). Additionally, we are proud to offer outpatient MRI and CT imaging for patients of our referring veterinarians and local specialists.

We take great pride in our track record for the consistently high level of care we provide for your pet. As a part of that, many staff members interact with your pet while they are in our care. From diagnostics to cuddles, your pet will always be in great hands!

Our Neurologists

Dr. Archambault, Dr. Harvey, and Dr. Barker are our full-time neurologists who will determine the main plan for your pet. Once they perform a complete neurologic evaluation, they will determine the next steps that would be best for your pet and your family. Each of our neurologists are board-certified specialists in veterinary neurology and neurosurgery.

What to Expect

Our patient care coordinators are an important part of our team and likely the first point of contact for most of our clients. They are the liaison for our client-doctor interactions and facilitate initial and follow-up patient care in a multitude of ways.

In addition, we have veterinary technicians and assistants who ensure your pet is comfortable while in our care. Our technicians work closely with our neurologists on your pet during the entirety of their stay, from appointment to discharge. Technicians and assistants ensure safe anesthesia for various procedures, perform blood draws and other requested diagnostics, provide patient care, and a variety of other duties.

Once we determine that your pet needs an MRI or CT, this is where our imaging doctors come into play. They make an anesthesia plan appropriate to your pet's specific needs and ensure the anesthesia runs smoothly. Our imaging technologists make sure the MRI and CT are running properly, so we can obtain high-quality images and make a definitive diagnosis.

Finally, rehabilitation plays a large part in our patient care. Many of our patients receive rehab while they are hospitalized to help improve their comfort and their recovery. CVNI is fortunate to have our own certified canine rehab practitioner working with our patients. Outpatient rehabilitation therapy appointments are also available.
